We got our wedding cake from Napoleon and were very happy with it. We came six months before, which was too early, and we were told to come closer to the wedding. There was a language barrier while ordering, so we wrote down all of the specifics and also had a friend who could speak Cantonese come with us when we ordered six weeks before the wedding. Payment was cash only, and we felt like we got great value. The ordering process was very casual. Napoleon delivered to the restaurant for the reception. It was completely hassle free, and absolutely worth the very reasonable delivery fee. We specified purple flowers, green leaves, and white striping. We were very happy with the cake's appearance--there was a subtle gradient with the purple flowers that we liked a lot. Napoleon constructed the cake there, bringing the tiers in one at a time. We got four tiers for 300 people, which was more than enough - we had about half the bottom tier leftover. Two tiers were mango mousse and two tiers were mixed fruit. The cake is very light and moist, and not too sweet. The wedding cake version is a little different from how Napoleon's cakes are usually constructed--there were two thick layers of sponge with a thick layer of mixed fruit or mango mousse in between. We enjoyed eating the cake after our wedding, including some that had been thawed from the freezer.

A local's favorite. Located in the heart of Oakland Chinatown. This bakery has been around for a long time, serving favorites like pineapple, custard buns, cocktail buns, BBQ, pork buns, and many other options. Most buns starts at $1-$3 each so It's very affordable, and delicious. There's always a line in front of the store, which means the pastries will run out before 3 PM so come get your hot buns, fresh buns for breakfast or brunch or lunch it's a quick snack under five dollars. **Don't forget to follow me on IG and Yelp for more great foodie places to check out Follow... @Only1ChristineLu **

My absolute favorite item is their mini red bean pineapple buns. They are affordable and delicious at only 60 cents each or 5 for $2.50. I grew up eating red bean bo-lo baos in SF from a specific bakery and Napoleon's very closely resembles that of my childhood. The red bean paste is sweet and smooth, the pineapple crust gives a good crisp, and the bread dough is the perfect texture. I want to say I have tried all of the bakeries in Oakland Chinatown and Napoleon's has the best red bean pineapple bun.

Date: 1/18/2025 Time: 4:00 PM 53° Cool As many times I have walked by this bakery, I have never went in until earlier today because the line of waiting customers is always long. After having lunch at Yung Kee, I am craving something sweet. I can no longer walk by, and I stand in line. Since it is my first time at Napoleon, the only thing I have in mind is a slice of a lemon filled sponge cake roll. There isn't any. All right, I decide to purchase a butter cream bun, two egg tarts and a savory cake roll. Total cost: $7.00. (Cash only) The egg tart is not overly sweet. The crust is flakey and quite good. Yum; no more going to SF Chinatown to Golden Gate Bakery for my egg tarts. This bakery is closer to my home. I inhale over half of the butter cream bun. It is addicting, moist creamy sweet butter. I know my glucose reading will be up tomorrow. I do not crave sweets that often. Thus, I feel once in a while does not hurt. Life is short, so I might as well enjoy the butter cream bun and egg tart.

Affordable pastries and open early. What can you not love about this place? It is cash only, however if you are a Chase member, there's an ATM machine right across the street. The pastries are fresh and you can smell it through the box. I got the pork buns and pastry buns. I ordered about 19 pastries for about $21. Bang for your buck.
